Mark was raised in British Columbia. Throughout his childhood, he was an avid birdwatcher. His favourite bird was always the northern spotted owl. As Mark got older, he noticed that it gradually became more challenging to find spotted owls. When he looked into it, he discovered that they were an endangered species. Mark studied spotted owls, and has become one of the world's leading experts in the spotted owl species and it's habitats. After understanding the severity of this problem, Mark quickly applied for a job at Spotted Owl Conservation National Park. As Head of Tour Operations, giving both tours on foot and on horseback, Mark educates the public on spotted owls and what people can do to protect this species, along with other species, from going extinct. Mark has really made a difference at the park, but also to the environment and to the world.
