Spotted Owl Conservation National Park is located in the Pacific Maritime Ecozone and Western Cordillera Landform Region.
Landform: Western Cordillera - mountains with small areas of coastal plains. Soils: Wide variety of mountain soils. This region is extremely mountainous. The mountains are fairly young, towering at great heights. During the last ice age, glaciers occupied many river valleys. These glaciers eroded the valleys below the sea level today. Eventually, the ice melted, and these valleys were flooded by the sea. They became long narrow inlets called fjords. The fjords that cut into the mountains along the coast create the beautiful scenery, and is one of the many reasons why Spotted Owl Conservation National Park and British Colombia attract so many tourists from across the World. |
